Lists of taxa found in NAWQA algae samples
The lists of algae taxa presented below contain names of diatoms and non-diatom algae ("soft-algae") found in NAWQA samples and currently used by algal analysts. Lists are updated to current taxonomy every three years. The 2001-start list contains names of taxa found in NAWQA samples collected from 2002 - 2004. The 2004-start list is currently being used for analysis of samples collected from 2005 - 2007.
The viewable lists contain full taxon name, short name (8 characters or less) and NADED ID1. The downloadable lists contain these same three variables plus fields for individual components of names (e.g., genus, variety), and higher taxonomic levels (e.g., Division).
